The Trust Awards aim to identify exceptional staff and teams who have made a significant contribution to improving the care patients receive and the success of our hospitals.
One of the six categories is the People's Award which is nominated for exclusively by patients and visitors. This aims to recognise that someone special who has gone the extra mile to provide excellent care and treatment and offered support at a difficult time.
Last year the award went to nurse specialist Janette Nichol who was nominated by a prostate cancer patient for her incredible 'dedication and hard work'. Janette was praised for being constantly accessible to discuss problems either in person or on her mobile, and for helping to set up a hugely beneficial monthly support group for patients.
Nominating is quick and easy with patients and visitors able to use an online nomination form, or alternatively fill in a hard-copy form available at both hospitals.
Eileen Sills, Chief Nurse, said: "We have around 10,000 staff working at our two hospitals and many go beyond what is expected to provide outstanding levels of treatment and care. These awards seek to identify those exceptional teams and staff so that they can be properly thanked for their efforts. Please help us achieve this by nominating in our People's Award category."
The deadline for nominations is Friday 5 March, and all entries will then be reviewed by a judging panel chaired by the Chief Executive. Winners will be announced at an awards dinner in May.
